The article outlines the wealth effects on consumption in the euro-zone. The author notes that: (1) the effect of financial wealth is relatively large and statistically significant, (2) wealth effect in relation to housing is zero or insignificant, (3) the growth of consumption is lengthy and depends on the shocks, (4) instantaneous reaction wealth effect on consumption in the short run is quite different from wealth effects in the long period. In details considering financial wellbeing of its main components, the author suggests that wealth effects are large in relation to currency and deposits, shares and investment funds. In addition, consumption depends largely on financial commitments and mortgage credits. Empirical survey results show that consumption has become more dependent on welfare, reflecting the positive impact of the approval of public finance and stock markets, as well as the importance of facilitating the possibility of receiving credit for real estate markets.
