Abstract	In the article the author considers the problem of rendering the time distance peculiar features of the belles-lettres works of the 19th century on the material of the novel by Jane Austen “Pride and Prejudice», and analyses the techniques, which a translator should follow in order to achieve faithfulness in rendering distinguishing them in the source language and then finding the appropriate equivalents in the target language. The lingvo-mathematical analysis of the dictionary articles of the synonymic rows of the given archaisms raises the problem of choosing the appropriate synonym, as the synonymic row in the TL is rather restricted.
