Abstract |
The main characteristics of dysenteria morbidity in the Sumy region of Ukraine were analyzed. Over the past half XX century sharp rise in dysenteria morbidity was twice observed: in fiftieth and seventieth years. While in the last ten years the tendency to some decrease in morbidity is noted, its level still remains high in small children and some other population groups. Two Shigella specieses dominate in the ethiologic structure of infection: S.Flexneri and S.Sonnei. The diseases caused with S.Sonnei concentrate in summer-autumn monthes just as S.Flexneri morbidity more equally disperses over the year. According to the tends in the spread of non-clinic form of infection it was predict the future morbidity growth. For this reason prophylaxis and control of this infection must remain a highly topical problem.
