Abstract	Nigeria has the second highest number of people living with HIV in the world. Since 1986 when the first case of the Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) was reported in Nigeria, the disease has grown to epidemic proportions with the prevalence of its causative agent - the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) being observed to be steadily rising since the early days of the epidemic.
