Abstract	The paper describes the microstructure and mechanical properties of ceramic material based on silicon nitride obtained by cold isostatic pressing and sintering in a nitrogen atmosphere. Microhardness and flexural strength are examined. The work is aimed to show that obtained material has moderately high strength, good physical characteristics and submicron structure.
