Abstract	Foreign direct investment (FDI) is quite important element in social and economic development of the region. The paper states that foreign direct investment is one of the most common forms of international capital. Interpretation of this concept is studied from different approaches. Various authors shift the emphasis in their interpretations, but the essence of this concept remains the same.
