Abstract	The research is devoted to the development of scientific and methodological basis and practical recommendations for banking performance evaluation and management. Summary of the chronology of the banking in Ukraine allowed distinguishing three phases of its development, necessity of bank performance management is proved. The author specifically mentioned four conceptual approaches to the content of banking - "functional", "portfolio", "production" and "institutional". Scientific and methodological approaches for banking performance’s assessment are systematized. Стаття присвячена розвитку науково-методологічних засад та розробці практичних рекомендацій щодо оцінювання та управління ефективністю банківського бізнесу.
