Abstract	The Article is dedicated to using modern information technology (in particular CALS-methodologies) for development computer aided design (CAD system) reciprocating compressor. Using the system approach has allowed to build the system model of the reciprocating compressor, consisting of separate interconnected subsystems. One of the main subsystems is a reciprocating compressor balancing system. In accordance with standard IDEF0 is built contextual diagram CAD reciprocating compressor balancing system’s, is determined to purposes and problems of the designing CAD system, width and depth of the area of modeling.
