The question on types of shavings is connected to creation of physical model of formation of a shaving and, therefore, has the important scientific - practical value. Types of shavings are determined by a combination of mechanical properties of a material, the circuit of the appendix of forces and thermal streams in a zone of cutting. Three essentially different circuits of development of process of formation of a shaving differ. The shaving received at realization by each of such circuits can be named drain, element and a break. It is necessary to count a drain shaving a shaving at which formation work of a bend prevails. the conditional plane of shift is not formed. The element shaving, is such shaving at which reception the conditional plane of shift as result of joint action of works of compression and a bend was formed. Irrespective of distance between the next planes of shift and from forces of coupling between them the mechanism of formation of such shaving same. The shaving of a break is formed at processing fragile materials, as result of fragile destruction at compression and a bend.
