Лінгвостилістичні особливості жанру "chick-lit" і способи їх перекладу (на матеріалі роману Гелен Філдінг "Щоденник Бріджит Джонс")

Abstract

Метою статті є вивчення лінгвостилістичних особливостей перекладу англійської літератури жанру чікліт (англ. chick-lit) українською мовою на прикладі роману "Щоденник Бріджит Джонс" Гелен Філдінг, а саме при відтворенні жіночих образів у тексті перекладу. У межах дослідження з’ясовано, що історичними чинниками зародження досліджуваного жанру чікліт були світові соціокультурні події. Однією з найбільш важливих особливостей цього жанру є те, що авторами, головними героїнями та читачками є жінки. Виявлено, що головною відмінністю жанру чікліт можна назвати форму оповідання й часовий простір. У романах жанру чікліт домінує розповідь від першої особи, часто стилізована під щоденникові записи. Жанр орієнтований на опис подій, що відбуваються «тут і зараз» із героїнею, від чиєї особи йде розповідь, тому він точно виражає емоції й почуття автора та відрізняється чіткістю й детальністю. Виокремлено лексичні засоби вираження авторського стилю в гендерному та перекладацькому аспектах; схарактеризовано особливості вживання лексико-стилістичних засобів для створення образу й мовної характеристики головної героїні роману. Також проаналізовано особливості перекладу низки засобів художньої виразності. До труднощів перекладу таких творів належить переклад авторських оказіоналізмів, неологізмів, скорочень, просторічних слів, вульгаризмів, емоційної лексики й розмовної мови, у якій здебільшого наявні сучасні слова та вирази, незареєстровані в словниках. Проведено мовностилістичний і порівняльний аналіз перекладів роману Луцан Лідії та Мельник Оксани. У результаті компаративного зіставлення визначено, що літературний переклад Л. Луцан є більш вдалим з погляду збереження авторського стилю роману та, як наслідок, більш точної передачі образу головної героїні.

The aim of the article is to study the linguistic and stylistic features of the translation of the chick-lit genre in English literature into the Ukrainian language based on the novel Bridget Jones’s Diary by Helen Fielding, particularly the reproduction of female images in the target text. The research outlines that an array of socio-cultural events serves as the foundation for the emergence of the chick-lit genre. One of the most important features of this genre is that its authors, main characters, and readers are women. It is figured out that the main peculiarity of chik-lit is the narrative style and time frame. Chick-lit novels are characterized by a first-person narrative, often in the form of a diary entry. The genre is focused on describing the events happening to the main character “right here and now”, therefore, it accurately expresses the emotions and feelings of the character and is written in a clear and detailed manner. The research identifies lexical means of expression of the author’s style, namely its gender and translation aspect. It describes the peculiarities of lexico-stylistic means to create the image and linguistic characteristics of the main character of the novel. Also, it analyses the translation features of the artistic expression means. To chick-lit genre translation difficulties we refer author’s occasionalisms, neologisms, abbreviations, colloquial words, vulgarisms, emotional vocabulary , and spoken language, which often contains modern words and fixed expressions not listed in dictionaries. The paper shows the linguostylistic and comparative analysis of two translations of the novel done by Lutsan Lidia and Melnyk Oksana. As a result of such comparison, it is identified that L. Lutsan’s literary translation is more successful in terms of preserving the author’s style of the novel. Therefore, we observe a more adequate representation of the image of the main character.
