Disciplinary Literacy Development in the Professional Online Course for Cynological Translators: Ukrainian Case

Abstract

Постійний розвиток сучасних технологій вимагає високого рівня вмінь і навичок у завершенні підготовки студентської молоді до конкретних ситуацій життя. Освітня система має використовувати більш ефективні підходи до підвищення необхідних навичок для сучасних життєвих і робочих ситуацій. Основною метою дослідження є визначення відповідної системи навчання основних і більш глибоких навичок перекладачів-кінологів для виконання ними специфічної трудової діяльності. Академічне значення дослідження полягає у виявленні нових зв'язків між дисциплінарною грамотністю та сферою ESP у підготовці кінологічних перекладачів із практичним значенням для майбутнього застосування. Слухачів дистанційного курсу з підготовки перекладачів-помічників кінологів опитували про основні складові, необхідні для виконання ними роботи. Результати перевірені методом статистичної обробки. Результати забезпечили підтримку концептуальної основи з ключовими елементами дисциплінарної грамотності для кінологічних перекладачів. Крім первинних навичок, які застосовуються для розвитку конкретних знань, основним компонентом професійної реалізації є набуття конкретного словникового запасу та вміння оперувати ним на практиці . Наслідки цього дослідження можуть стосуватися більш різноманітного обсягу дисциплінарної грамотності кінологічних перекладачів.

Ongoing development of modern technologies requires high-level skills and abilities in completing the preparation of the student youth to specific situations in life. The educational system needs to use more efficient approaches in increasing essential skills for modern life andwork situations. The study's main aim is to specify the appropriate system of teaching essential and more profound skills of the cynological translators for fulfilling their specific work activities. The study's academic importance lies in revealing new connections between the disciplinary literacy and ESP sphere in preparing the cynological translators with practical meaning for future application. The students of distance course on training the cynological translators-assistants were questioned about theessential components necessary for their job completing. The results were verified by the statistical processing method. The results provided support for the conceptual framework, with crucial elements of disciplinary literacy for cynological translators.Except for the primary skills applied for developing the specific knowledge, the main component for professional realization is acquiring the particular vocabulary and ability to operate with it in practice. This study's implications might relate to the more various scope of disciplinary literacy of the cynological translators.
