Лексико-стилістичні особливості перекладу творів у жанрі фентезі

Abstract

Статтю присвячено аналізу лексико-стилістичних особливостей перекладу фентезійних творів як важливого аспекту сучасної теорії художнього перекладу. Жанр фентезі, який здобув популярність у XX столітті й продовжує бути одним із найпоширеніших у XXI столітті, привертає значну увагу як науковців, так і практиків перекладу. У дослідженні наголошується на важливості збереження унікальної атмосфери та стилістики оригінальних фентезійних творів у перекладах українською мовою. У сучасному літературному дискурсі поняття «фентезі» не має загальноприйнятого визначення через складну взаємодію між реальністю, містикою, ірраціональним та фантастичним, але для всіх визначень спільною рисою є уявне або фантастичне середовище, де розгортаються події твору. Фентезі включає в себе велику й постійно зростаючу кількість піджанрів, які письменники іноді комбінують у своїх творах.У статті основна увага приділяється лексико-стилістичному аналізу фентезійного дискурсу, що дозволяє дослідити особливості вживання стилістичних прийомів та підбору лексичних конструкцій і простежити, як вони відтворюються у перекладі. У ході дослідження було виявлено універсальні стилістичні ознаки жанру фентезі, а також розглянуто фентезійні елементи, що впливають на сприйняття тексту читачами. Метафора та персоніфікація додають емоційних відтінків, яскраво змальовуючи атмосферу. Метонімія дозволяє передавати ідеї чи образи через заміщення одного поняття іншим. Гіпербола створює драматичний ефект, підкреслюючи велич і надприродні можливості персонажів. Мовно-виразові засоби допомагають висловлюватися влучно й експресивно, збагачуючи текст. Серед них було виокремлено епітети, які використовуються для створення атмосфери й опису персонажів і подій. Встановлено, що в книгах жанру фентезі тропи перекладаються здебільшого дослівно або з прийомами опущення, компенсації, контекстуальною заміною, антонімічного перекладу та додавання.

The article analyses the lexical and stylistic features of the translation of fantasy works, which is an important aspect of the modern theory of literary translation. Fantasy gained popularity in the twentieth century and continues to be one of the most widespread genres in the twenty-first century, attracting considerable attention from both scholars and translation practitioners. The study emphasises the importance of preserving the unique atmosphere and style of original fantasy works in translations into other languages. In contemporary literary discourse, the concept of «fantasy» lacks a generally accepted definition due to the complex interaction between reality, mysticism, irrationality, and the fantastic. However, all definitions have in common the imaginary or fantastic environment in which the events of the work take place. Fantasy encompasses a vast and growing number of subgenres, which writers sometimes combine in their works. The article employs a lexical and stylistic analysis of fantasy discourse to investigate the specific characteristics of stylistic devices and lexical constructions, and to examine how they are replicated in translation. The study identified the stylistic features that are characteristic of the fantasy genre and examined the ways in which fantasy elements influence readers’ perception. Metaphor and personification contribute to the emotional tone of the work, providing a vivid depiction of the atmosphere. Metonymy is a rhetorical device that allows the conveyance of ideas or images by the replacement of one concept with another. Hyperbole serves to create a dramatic effect, whereby the characters are presented as having great and supernatural abilities. The use of linguistic and expressive means enables the accurate and expressive expression of ideas, thereby enriching the text. Among these are epithets used to create an atmosphere and describe characters and events, as well as similes that improve the visualisation of scenes and add depth to descriptions, thus facilitating the readers’ ability to imagine fictional places, creatures, and events. It has been established that in fantasy books, tropes are translated mostly literally, with the techniques of omission, compensation, contextual substitution, antonymic translation, and addition.
