Abstract Relevance of the article lies in the fact that in the modern globalised world, foreign language proficiency is becoming an essential skill for professional success. Growing integration of international markets, the need to cooperate with foreign partners, and the mobility of the labour force are all factors behind globalisation. Foreign language skills provide additional opportunities for career growth, professional development and effective intercultural communication. The aim of the article is to analyse the options for English for Specific Purposes (ESP) teaching methods for students of non-linguistic professions, focusing on the situation in Ukraine; consider the current situation on the labour market and identify the benefits of knowing a foreign language. The task of the article is to analyse the literature and existing research, to study the needs of the labour market and to identify effective teaching methods. Presentation of the main research material. In today's world, it is difficult to overestimate the role that foreign languages play in the professional sphere, especially English. It is the language of international conferences, sports competitions, communication of the international scientific community, and is also the leading language on the Internet. Currently, more than 1.5 billion people learn English in the world.
