Methods of translation of legal terminology are investigated. The research was carried out during classes based on English-language materials, court speeches, acts, protocols, etc. It is generally accepted that the search for appropriate equivalents of legal terms is a constant and time-consuming problem that legal translators face in their practice. Compilation of this material is important for the successful translation of legal documentation, as well as the correct training of law and improvement of legal terminology. To achieve the tasks the functional methods and the structural-composition analysis of language structures on the material of court speeches, acts, protocols, etc. are performed. Legal translation is a complex process. Legal translation as an institutional, culturally dependent one, requires the translator to have a full command of linguistics in both source and target languages, as well as a thorough knowledge of the culture and legal systems of the source and target countries. The paper finds that the system of legal translation problems concerns the fact that the legal terminology is very specific to that country. It is impossible to translate legal terminology literally. Functional equivalence often arises here. It is found out that the peculiarity of legal terms is finding functional equivalence - a process when the translator finds the concept of the source language and a means to express the same concept of translation in such a way that the equivalent should convey the same meaning and intention as the original. It can be achieved by searching for phrases of the same meaning, lexical extension or descriptive paraphrasing. Functioning in legislative discourse takes place at different language levels, while creating a general picture of it. In addition to using persuasive tactics, the speaker seems to be syntactically parallel, thus opposing, discrediting, or arguing. It is found out that the peculiarity of the legislative discourse is the structural-compositional and lexical-semantic means of implementation, the so-called qualifiers: binomial constructions, gerund and infinitive inversions, passive verb-predicate, parallel structures. An important element of the legal rulings is the text, i.e. the use of indents, paragraphs, correction fonts, which organizes the reception of the message and emphasizes the important elements of the text of the document. While studying legal literature, students face a difficult task, the translation of a legal term. But they do not know how to do it better in the same way, so students try to find the same compound or multicomponent term. The article presents linguistic and extalinguistic features to introduce into the translation of a legal text. First of all, attention is paid to non-equivalent vocabulary.
