Abstract The genre system of literary journalism quickly responds to current events and phenomena of public life. The beginning of the twentieth century was marked by many social changes in Ukrainian people’s life – First World War, the national liberation movement, the victory of Bolshevism and the establishment of the Soviet system. In the midst of political, cultural and religious changes satirical genres of literary journalism gave a reader an opportunity to orient in these processes.
