    “Effective Phone Calls” is a practical and accessible course specifically designed to develop students` essential communication and language skills. It is divided into six units, which contain face-to-face with teacher and self-study materials. The course aims to develop both competence and confi-dence in a variety of situations, so that by the end of the period of study students will have acquired the necessary skills to handle almost any kind of call in business setting.

    English for Specific Purposes (ESP) in Ukraine. A Baseline Study

    Through the analyses of the current situation in ESP teaching, learning and assessment in Ukrainian universities, the Baseline Study revealed that the reason for the gap between the target situation needs and the existing proficiency of the learners is the absence of generally accepted criteria in content, methodology, course organisation, assessment, and learning outcomes with reference to international standards. It is stated that the development and introduction of a national ESP curriculum would lead to a significant positive change in ESP learning and teaching in Ukraine

    The overall aim of the National ESP Curriculum is to develop students’ professional language competences, enabling them to function effectively in culturally diverse academic and professional environments. The Curriculum establishes national parameters for ESP teaching and learning consistent with internationally recognised standards, provides a standardised basis for university course and syllabus design, relevant to the professional needs of the students, and to societal expectations.
