The number of people employed in the information sphere is growing steadily. The information products and information services are gaining additional shares in the market. It is specifically the prerequisites for a future specialist to have high media and cultural competence to tackle current challenges. The research aims to ascertain experimentally the pedagogical conditions for media culture formation and its impact on future professionals’ training. The study was conducted using such tools as questionnaires and testing. Diagnosis of cognitive interest (according to N. Kuzmina’s scale), the scale for assessing students' operational skills (according to M. Chobitko), Pearson's criterion (chi-square). In the experimental group, only 1.9% of students at the control stage of the experiment corresponded to the low level of media culture according to the cognitive criterion, while in the control group there were 18.4% f students. However, in the experimental group at the control stage of the experiment more than 61% of respondents yielded a high level of media culture according to the cognitive criterion. That said, in the experimental group only 1.9% respondents at the control stage of the experiment corresponded to a low level of media culture according to the cognitive criterion. The obtained results give grounds to argue that media culture formation has a positive effect on the future professionals’ training. This is due to the fact that media culture is underlying the general professional competence of the XXI century specialist. Based on the analysis of best world practices in soft skills development, the article’s authors conclude that transferable skills are fundamental to the formation of professional competencies. This conclusion has become possible based on a thorough theoretical review and self-report questionnaire findings. The article describes implementing a 21-day-skill-acquisition teaching technique to form and develop students’ hard and soft skills. The intervention conducted at the Department of Germanic Philology, Faculty of Foreign Philology and Social Communications, Sumy State University, targeted the 1st-year BA and 1st-year MA Translation Studies students who created their content using modern video blogging technology. На основі аналізу найкращих світових практик розвитку м’яких навичок, автори статті дійшли висновку, що гнучкі навички є підґрунтям для формування професійних компетенцій. Цей висновок став можливим на основі ретельного теоретичного огляду та результатів анкети-самозвіту. У статті описано застосування прийомів інтенсивного навчання задля формування та розвитку твердих і м’яких навичок студентів протягом 21 дня. Педагогічне дослідження, проведене на кафедрі германської філології факультету іноземної філології та соціальних комунікацій Сумського державного університету, було спрямоване на студентів-філологів 1 курсу бакалаврату та 1 курсу магістратури, які створювали контент за допомогою сучасних технологій відеоблогінгу. За результатами дослідження можемо зробити висновок, що розвиток м’яких навичок значною мірою визначає особисту траєкторію навчання студентів та сприяє удосконаленню професійних компетентностей.
