The key values that influence the intention to join a company vary among different groups of employees, which must be taken into account when creating a successful employer value proposition (EVP). The purpose of this study is to assess the differences between the key values of employed and potential workers whose work is most on demand in the labour market (generations Y and Z, with higher education and those who obtain higher education). The research was conducted on the basis of a sociological survey of a representative sample of respondents (510 respondents). The main differences in the perception of the employer’s brand are identified by gender (higher value of safety in the workplace for women, and opportunities for personal development for men), as well as in the groups selected by the availability of experience: pay is valued highest by respondents with work experience; for those who have no work experience, the employer’s brand reputation is a more important factor. There are also significant differences in assessments of the importance of workplace safety, professional development, comfortable environment, and work-life balance.Item Selected Factors of SMEs Managementin the Service Sector(Center for International Scientific Research of VSO and VSPP, 2020) Belas, J.; Amoah, J.; Petrakova, Z.; Kliuchnikava, Y.; Білан, Юрій Валентинович; Билан, Юрий Валентинович; Bilan, Yurii ValentynovychThe article aims to compare important management factors between SMEs in the service sector and SMEs in other entrepreneurship sectors. The study was realized in the Czech Republic and the Slovak republic over SMEs in the service sector and other sectors in 2019-2020. The data were collected from the owners or top-level managers; the total sample used in the study was 822 SMEs. The questionnaire was constructed in an online version and was fulfilled by 240 SMEs in the service sector and 582 other companies in the Czech or Slovak republic. The research hypotheses were evaluated by basic statistics tools: contingency tables, Z-score, and Chi-square test. The results showed that there are significant differences in the agreed attitudes to the statement: "I manage the company for more than 8 hours a day" between the Czech (62%) and Slovak (71%) respondents in the service business sector. Neither nationality nor the business sector is essential determinants in the perception of human capital as the most critical element in the company (8 out of 10 respondents) and the fact that the owner (manager) of the company should regularly evaluate the performance of its subordinates and motivate them to innovate in work processes. The results are interesting for the entrepreneurs themselves and for entities and organizations that help SMEs' business activities in selected countries, respectively, for economic policymakers.Item Vocational training costs and economic benefits: exploring the interactions(Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, 2021) Samoliuk, N.; Білан, Юрій Валентинович; Билан, Юрий Валентинович; Bilan, Yurii Valentynovych; Mishchuk, H.The aim of the article is to study the relationship between vocational training costs and economic benefits at different levels of economic relations. In the structure of labour costs in the EU, there was the highest share of vocational training costs in Ireland (2.79%), Great Britain (2.53%), France (1.51%), which is reflected in the economic success of these countries. A comparison with Ukraine, which has European integration intentions, confirms that the underestimated role of investing in lifelong learning has relevant links to economic performance. This study at the enterprise level (based on the survey of 356 employees) found that higher costs of vocational training are a sign of profitable enterprises. At the same time, employees’ interest in short-term training programs is higher, which they obviously assess from the standpoint of higher personal economic benefits in the short term. At the same time, the analysis performed by means of the Fechner correlation coefficient confirms the existence of a positive impact of vocational training costs on changes in the main macroeconomic benefits indicator – GDP per capita. This allows drawing conclusions about the need to develop professional training programs for staff as one of the drivers of macroeconomic development.Item Knowledge Management and Economic Growth: The Assessment of Links and Determinants of Regulation(Kozminski University, 2021) Oliinyk, O.; Білан, Юрій Валентинович; Билан, Юрий Валентинович; Bilan, Yurii Valentynovych; Mishchuk, H.Purpose: In order to make an informed choice of the most effective tools for ensuring the development of a competitive economy, it is important to take into account the links between macroeconomic indicators of progress and the most important components of knowledge management. In this regard, the aim of our study is to assess the relationship between knowledge management factors and economic growth in order to select the factors that most determine the positive changes in Gross national income per capita. Methodology/results: As a result of the systematization of the main international indices, which use knowledge management factors and the authors’ correlation analysis of their relationships with GNI per capita, conclusions are made about the greatest effectiveness at the present stage of action, which results in skills development (such as the ability to work with new technologies and with people, flexibility and cooperation), innovative capacity, access to information and means of communication. Findings: The perception of these factors as determinants of economic development and the appropriate direction of the levers of economic policy will result in achieving the greatest economic efficiency on the basis of the development of the knowledge economy.Item A Scoping Review of Renewable Energy, Sustainability and the Environment(MDPI, 2021) Колосок, Світлана Іванівна; Колосок, Светлана Ивановна; Kolosok, Svitlana Ivanivna; Білан, Юрій Валентинович; Билан, Юрий Валентинович; Bilan, Yurii Valentynovych; Васильєва, Тетяна Анатоліївна; Васильева, Татьяна Анатольевна; Vasylieva, Tetiana Anatoliivna; Wojciechowski, A.; Morawski, M.The article aims to identify the latest trends in research on renewable energy, sustainability and the environment. A total of 92,873 publications from 123 Scopus sources for 2020–2021 are compared using the scoping review method. The results show that the most cited works in this sample are those by authors from the Asian region. The research of these authors focuses on the security, efficiency and reliability of separate elements in energy systems. Besides, the paper considers the problems regarding COVID disease along with the renewable energy sources, perovskite and organic solar panels, nanostructured materials and high energy density. Finally, the paper analyses applications of computer science methods in research on renewable energy, sustainability and the environment. The findings evidently show that recent advancements in computer science methods were not extensively used in the discussed research domain and give a great room for novel strategies of prognosing, simulation and processes optimisation.Item Weather Derivative Instruments. Property Analysis of the Basic Instruments(Editura Academia de studii economice, 2021) Mentel, G.; Білан, Юрій Валентинович; Билан, Юрий Валентинович; Bilan, Yurii Valentynovych; Szetela, B.; Mentel, U.The issues of weather risk management, and more specifically the problem of protecting against it in terms of the so-called weather financial instruments are the subject of this paper. The article is devoted to the characteristics of the temperature weather factor as a base instrument in terms of meteorological forecasts. It refers to the methodology of weather forecasts in the light of their usefulness, statistical analysis of the properties of the selected weather factor and the nature of the variability of weather indexes.Item Methodology for assessing the risk associated with information and knowledge loss management(VILNIUS TECH, 2021) Яровенко, Ганна Миколаївна; Яровенко, Анна Николаевна; Yarovenko, Hanna Mykolaivna; Білан, Юрій Валентинович; Билан, Юрий Валентинович; Bilan, Yurii Valentynovych; Лєонов, Сергій Вячеславович; Леонов, Сергей Вячеславович; Lieonov, Serhii Viacheslavovych; Mentel, G.In practice, there is a massive time lag between data loss and its cause identification. The existing techniques perform it comprehensively, but they consume too much time, so there is a need for fast and reliable methods. The article’s purpose is to develop a rapid methodology to assess the risk of information and knowledge loss management. It provides the implementation of eight steps and combines a risk mapping method modified by assessments based on risk factors and incidents as elements from set theory and using formalization via binary estimates. The methodology includes five significant events caused by the company staff, technical problems, software, cybercriminals, viral attacks, and 66 factors influencing company incidents. As a result, a risk map of 9 groups was built for a Ukrainian enterprise. Only two groups with the minimum number of incidents and low losses are represented by all five incidents. The defined overall level of each risk group ranges from 0.14 to 0.26, which indicates a low probability of all happenings in the group. In general, the resulting map shows the existence of specific security problems of the company under investigation. The proposed assessment allows us to interpret the level of risk in the company quickly, identify weaknesses in the information security system, and predict future losses.Item Assessment of Energy Efficiency Gaps: The Case for Ukraine(MDPI, 2021) Васильєва, Тетяна Анатоліївна; Васильева, Татьяна Анатольевна; Vasylieva, Tetiana Anatoliivna; Павлик, Владислав Володимирович; Павлик, Владислав Владимирович; Pavlyk, Vladyslav Volodymyrovych; Білан, Юрій Валентинович; Билан, Юрий Валентинович; Bilan, Yurii Valentynovych; Mentel, G.; Rabe, M.This article substantiates the need to find and implement innovative tools to improve the efficiency of the domestic system for energy sector control. The authors determined that energy policy renewal should consider Ukraine’s commitments to transition to a carbon-neutral economy. The systematization of scientific achievements shows that one of the priority tasks is to minimize the gaps in the energy efficiency of the national economy. It is established that, despite the significant scientific achievements in this area, the scientific community has not adopted a single approach to assessing energy efficiency yet. The purpose of this article is to assess the energy efficiency gaps in the national economy, in order to identify their peak values and the factors causing them, and appropriate mechanisms to minimize them. The energy efficiency gaps are assessed using frontal analysis and Shepard’s energy distance function. Analytical data from the World Bank, the Swiss Institute of Economics, and the International Energy Agency form the information base. The study applied software package Stata 14 for calculation the energy efficiency gaps for Ukraine for 2002–2019. The study applied the Shepard’s function translogarithmic, stochastic frontier analysis for the assessment of energy efficiency gaps. According to the study results, the average level of energy efficiency gaps is 0.12, and their values became the largest in 2009 and 2015. First of all, this is due to the impact of the global financial crisis and the escalation of military–political conflicts. The growing dynamics of the energy efficiency gaps level is due to the excess of the negative effect of increasing exports of primary energy resources and inefficient technologies for their processing over the positive impact of energy-efficient innovation imports. In this case, the government should provide a proactive strategy for creating a positive investment climate, in order to attract additional financial resources for extending green innovations and popularizing the green style and cultivate the energy safety behavior in society.Item People's Behavior, in the Context of Living Standards Changes and Sustainable Development, Exemplified by the Carpathian Euroregion(Obuda University, 2021) Білан, Юрій Валентинович; Билан, Юрий Валентинович; Bilan, Yurii Valentynovych; Chudy-Laskowska, K.; Szczygieł, E.; Piecuch, T.This paper is an attempt to present changes of living standards, as an element of sustainable development. In the article, the authors present a literature review concerning the sustainable development concept and its dimensions, as well as, its linkage with the living standard concept (and broadly – with the quality of life category). The main goal is a statistical analysis of the living standards of the inhabitants of the Carpathian Euroregion, which was conducted using the data from the years 2008-2016. Within the analysis, the authors presented three groups (clusters) of regions belonging to Euroregion and analyzed the differences between them, as well as, the main factors responsible for belonging to the applicable group. In the article, three hypothesis were examined. Only two of them were confirmed (one in limited scope).
