Розширення сучасних глобалізаційних процесів підвищило значення транскордонного співробітництва регіонів. На сьогодні така форма міжрегіональної співпраці як транскордонне співробітництво набуває все більш актуального значення, особливо в контексті європейської інтеграції. Це співробітництво спрямоване на координацію взаємних зусиль і здійснення узгоджених заходів у різних сферах життєдіяльності в тому числі і в екологічній сфері.
