Abstract A method to numerically simulate the thermally induced magnetic relaxation in two-dimensional (2D) nanoparticle ensembles is generalized for the case of applied perpendicular magnetic fields. The influence of the correlations of the nanoparticle magnetic moments and of the external field on the relaxation law and on the relaxation rate is studied.
