Samoilovich and the official authorities, connected with the sympathies of the great scientist to the ideals of the French Revolution, membership in the Masonic order and anti-monarchic aspirations, is described. The article claims about the significant influence of D. Samoilovich's ideas and discoveries on the development of European medicine. This was expressed in the fact that he was elected a member of 12 European Academies of Sciences, and his works were published in French and German, and later republished. The appearance of the first medical manuals in Russian is connected with the name of D. Samoilovich. In addition to his medical and scientific activities, D. Samoilovich was active in social and educational activities, because he was convinced that an effective fight against epidemics is possible only with the use of systemic measures at the level of not only state control and management, but also with broad public representation. The article examines the advantages and perspectives of distance education development in the Ukrainian higher education system. One of the innovations in the process of organizing education in Ukraine, as a country that actively implements the demands of time and the Bologna process, is the actualization of distance learning, that meets the needs of the modern society, the society that needs a mobile professional who can implement the skills and knowledge in the globalized society, not only limited to the norms and standards of their own country. Distance learning is one of the promising and effective forms of higher education, which ensures the expansion of professional contacts, as well as greater use of the scientific and methodological potential of higher education. The authors consider the open educational resources to ensure the further effectiveness of the education system in Ukraine (in the context of society digitalization), to adapt it to the process of global integration. Open educational resources, both worldwide and Ukrainian, are the means for the development of skills and knowledge, due to which future professionals in a particular field have the opportunity to become more competitive at the labor market in the period of society globalization, achieving more significant goals.

Some Aspects of the Religious Life of the Ukrainian Provinces of the Russian Empire in the first half of the 19th century
The article analyzes the features of the religious life of the Ukrainian provinces of the Russian Empire in terms of schismaticism and sectarianism in the first half of the 19th century. The source for the study of this issue was the 8th volume of the «History of the Ministry of Internal Affairs» by N.V. Varadinov, where numerous archival data, documents, as well as scientific works were used to study the issues of the religious development of the Russian state during this period. An extensive bibliography of the issue is given, especially of pre-revolutionary authors who specialized in the study of sectarianism and schismaticism. Based on the statistical reports contained in the work, the number of schismatics in the Ukrainian provinces was calculated for 1826−1827, 1837, 1839, 1841, 1846, when, in fact, the reports were submitted to the Ministry. As a result of calculations, we found that the largest number of schismatics in the overwhelming number was recorded in the Chernigov province. In general, their numbers were unevenly distributed across all Ukrainian provinces. It has been established that in the period from 1826 to 1846 there is a general decrease in the number of schismatics on the scale of the empire, while in the territory of the Ukrainian provinces its increase, on average by 27 %. As a conclusion, a hypothesis was formulated that to those given as N.V. Varadinov, and other sources, data on the number of schismatics in the Russian Empire during this period should be treated with skepticism, due to objective circumstances and conditions that do not allow to accurately establish the number of sectarians.

People’s Information Security during a Pandemic and in the Post-Pandemic Period as a Systemic Phenomenon in Terms of Their Protectedness
Lebid, Andrii Yevheniiovych; Shevchenko, N.A.
This paper shares the findings from a study that assessed the level of a person’s information security during a pandemic and in the post-pandemic period. The base for the study was advertising and textual and visual content with theoretical-academic, practical-medical, cultural educational, social, and social-political narratives containing information about COVID-19, an acute respiratory disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. The authors analyzed materials from leading media outlets in Ukraine, Russia, the UK, Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, Spain, and Italy and from the official website of the World Health Organization (WHO). For a better insight into the ongoing processes, the following key groups of threats to one’s information security were identified: another person, groups of people, collectives, masses, and social institutions; programming and technical means and information-telecommunications systems; structured channels for dissemination of mass information. The more tangible impacts on one’s information security within the specialized information space segment were investigated in the third group of threats, namely at the level of analysis of structured channels for dissemination of mass information. Based on their analysis of the latest information flows, the authors developed a special socio communication model for ensuring a person’s security in times of epidemics and crises that covers principles of informing the public, such as filling the information space with various conceptual markers; ensuring proper professional-information interpretation of various phenomena and processes; undertaking the innovative enhancement of the sphere of information production and diffusion; ensuring a universal individual nature. The authors suggest that the study of content in local, regional, statewide, and international media resources potentially can serve as a crucial knowledge base for comprehending all significant characteristics of informing the public in times of societal disruption. The authors’ exploration of information flowing across multiple media channels helped them gain a better understanding of the need for and utility of verifying and fact-checking information to ensure the meeting of information needs and proper performance of relevant roles in society, with the following key characteristics of good information identified: value, relevance, objectivity, reliability, completeness, comprehensibility, and adequacy.

The Organization of the Educational Process in Kharkov Imperial University (1835–1863)
Lebid, Andrii Yevheniiovych; Shevchenko, N.A.
This paper analyzes ‘The Review of Instruction in Subjects at Kharkov Imperial University’, an official document that regulated the organization of the educational process in Kharkov Imperial University. The work provides an insight into the evolution of modifications to the titles of this historical source for the entire period it was published. It examines the document’s substantive and formal characteristics such as structure, format, and data presentation. A quantitative analysis of data from the document helped establish a list of disciplines and courses taught at the university and measure the weekly academic load of students in Kharkov Imperial University (in hours), which made it possible to also measure this load across terms and for instructors as well. The study helped establish certain distinctive characteristics of the document – more specifically, the fact that it contained recommendations regarding scholarly and scholarlyinstructional study guides that instructors were to use in their work. Such recommendations were eventually replaced with a list of recommended literature for each course taught at the university. The present paper also provides dynamic data on the quantitative composition of the teaching workforce in each specific department. The authors established the scholarly-pedagogical potential of Kharkov Imperial University in the period between Nicholas’s University Statute of 1835 and Alexander’s University Statute of 1863. It was established that, in addition to their primary duties at the university, professors also gave public lectures, which had them adapting their courses to the needs and interests of the public. As a rule, giving public lectures was not a burden on instructors, as it was voluntary in nature.Among other matters, the authors researched the nonacademic component of university education – more specifically, the teaching of the “pleasing arts”. Based on this, a conclusion was drawn that the model of higher education in the Russian Empire in the 19th century was focused on the all-round development of a person.

Social Status of a Teacher in Ancient Rome
Lebid, Andrii Yevheniiovych; Teres, N.; Shevchenko, N.A.
The source base of the study consists of literary works of fiction and publicistic genre, letters of the Republic citizens and subjects of ancient Roman emperors, who bear witness of the attitude of contemporaries to the profession of a teacher, determine its prestige and social significance. This preconditioned the aim of the study to determine the social status of a Roman teacher. The authors claim that the latter depended on both formal and informal factors. However, personal level of professional achievements, attractive individual traits, morality, support from influential people were more important than belonging to a particular class of mentors or state regulation of education. The teacher's authority regulated his right to corporal punishment of students and influenced the amount of remuneration. The researchers believe, that a certain criterion to determine the prestige of the profession is the quantitative indicator of payment, as well as the regularity of its implementation. The teacher's wealth increased his place in the system of social relations and, conversely, was a consequence of patronage by the authorities. However, the incomes of most teachers remained low, which, in combination with other criteria of prestige of the job, allows to conditionally establish the status of a teacher at a level “below average”.

Gender Differentiation in Perceiving and Evaluating the Interactive Methods of Education by the Engineering Students
Lebid, Andrii Yevheniiovych; Shevchenko, N.A.
The article gives an overview of the basic principles and approaches to the matter of cooperative learning based on the use of interactive forms and methods of education. It is argued that in the conditions of the changing labor market, there will be a demand for such skills, abilities and competencies that are most effectively formed and developed through interactive practices such as leadership, thinking skills, communication, decision making, project work, etc. Interactive education methods are a synthesis of two components, pedagogical and technological. It is justified to combine these two components to achieve the best learning outcomes. On the basis of the analysis of the data obtained as a result of the survey, as well as via its verification using the mathematical statistics methods, a hypothesis was proposed on the difference in the level of expectations, perception and evaluation of interactive forms and methods of education in gender-differentiated groups of engineering students. The results of data analysis showed a more skeptical attitude of the male student audience with regard to both the effectiveness and appropriateness of interactive methods of education. It was found that this part of respondents tends to be more instrumental and pragmatic in choosing the means and methods of learning
