Item Modelling structural relations between financial, social-economic and healthcare factors(Academic Research and Publishing UG, 2023) Позовна, Ірина Вікторівна; Pozovna, Iryna Viktorivna; Hałuszko, K.; Polishchuk, A.Relevance of the article topic consists in the fact that it is critical to analyse relations between financial, social-economic and healthcare determinants for the post-pandemic recovery of macroeconomic stability. Consideration of these relations can provide complex recovery strategies, which will contribute to economic, medical amd social resiliemce. The latter is extremely important when there are new global challenges to overcome. The manuscript aims at identifying structural and functional connections between social-economic determinants that influence the healthcare sector. To achieve this purpose, we used the following research methods: induction and deduction, analysis and synthesis, comparison and logical generalisation, table and diagram visualisation, observation and assessment, method of principal components, structural modelling. The research data are taken from the World Bank. Totally, the paper analyses statistical data from 15 European countries in 2000-2021. The modelling input data comprise 18 indexes (financial, social-economic, healthcare ones). The constructed structural model provided the following conclusion: if healthcare indexes increase by 1, social-economic development decreases by 0.014. One of the reasons for that is the negative mortality value. The most important aspect is an efficient reaction to epidemics and pandemics. Development of containment plans, including the healthcare scaling and inter-authority coordination is critical for effective crisis management. We should develop a stable economy and policies to provide an affordable and equal access to healthcare for all population groups. Only a complex approach in each separate country may drop mortality and minimise impacts on different aspects of society life. The obtained results can be applied by authorities of public health to improve efficient recovery strategies, raise healthcare standards, make proper decisions for social-economic developmentItem Fractal analysis of the medical insurance market: Theoretical and practical aspects(Academic Research and Publishing UG, 2023) Mańak-Szulik, M.; Коломієць, Світлана Володимирівна; Kolomiiets, Svitlana Volodymyrivna; Krawczyk, D.; Olihnenko, K.The latest experience obviously reflects that social-economic systems increasingly demonstrate an unforecastable behaviour. Financial markets are characterised by extremely guick change and crisis phenomena. Use of traditional modelling methods (in particular, the effective market hypothesis) provides no opportunity to obtain efficient forecasts about state and development of financial markets. One of promising methods in researching and modelling financial markets is the fractal analysis. Various natural and social phenomena posess fractality properties, namely there are similar structures on different scales. Generality of the fractal analysis methods allows their applying to study systems of any nature – from physical to economic and social ones. Fractality attributes of time series provide its dynamics pre-forecast and assess the time series predictability. The fractal analysis consists in establishing the extent of time series similarity to the fractal ones and defining a relation between the trend line and fractal dimension. The Hurst exponent assessment (persistence or anti-persistence of time series) predicts the further process development on the preliminary data basis. The fractal analysis efficiency during the unstable market periods is applicable for studying different social-economic systems (in particular, the Ukrainian medical insurance market). The research object is time series of gross insurance rewards on the Ukrainian medical insurance market. The research topic is the time series fractal analysis. The paper deals with peculiarities of the time series fractal analysis, the R/S analysis for time series of gross insurance rewards on the Ukrainian medical insurance market (via the MS Excel software). The Statistica 10.0.228.2 application generated the ARIMA model to predict dynamics of the gross insurance rewards on the Ukrainian medical insurance market. The obtained results may be used to conduct the R/S analysis of financial time series. In particular, that concerns those time series that describe the insurance market. Also, dynamics of the financial time series may be forecasted via these results as wellItem Analysis of implementing the Ukrainian healthcare reform in 2023(Academic Research and Publishing UG, 2023) Sheliemina, N.The main research task is to study the issue of effectiveness of implementing the healthcare reform in Ukraine using the main levers of influence on the most significant items of expenditure in the medical industry itself. Also, we investigate the main items of income and expenses of medical service providers, their specific weight and management methods for more rational use. It is worth noting that the positive dynamics in the direction of effectiveness of the healthcare industry is not only the main priority. It is also a direct tool that drives the general processes in the medical industry. Increasing the level of social protection is one of the primary goals of medicine and, as a result, improving the quality of state population life. In a chain reaction, this will lead to a reduction in costs for the healthcare industry due to faster recovery of patients and reduction of time spent in a state of temporary incapacity. One of the key aspects of the medical reform efficiency remains the issue of remuneration of workers. Before carrying out reform measures, doctor salaries were officially at the minimum level. Therefore, the principle of treatment for the patient’s money was widespread in the industry. The main motivating element of the human capital efficiency is salary – reward for work results. So, if the salary directly depends on the target indicators that must be achieved in the production process, then the employee’s motivation increases. Based on the fact that the main direction of funds expenditure at medical institutions is labour costs, the main efforts and attention should be paid in the organisational and administrative plan to work with the effective use of this item of expenses. It is worth noting that the salary of any employee is the main measure of his work efficiency. It is a motivator to improve the quality and treatment efficiency. If the amount of reward depends on the employee’s performance indicators, the system will have additional motivation not only in the quantitative characteristics of the work result, but also in the qualitative parametersItem Beekeeping role in enhancing food security and environmental public health(Academic Research and Publishing UG, 2023) Richardson, K.This conceptual article delves into the intricate relationship between public health and environmental health, using the underutilisation of beekeeping in the United States as a case study. The concept of food security, established after the 1996 World Food Summit, encompasses pillars of availability, accessibility, utilization, and stability. This thorough framework creates the foundation for comprehending the crucial aspects of food security and prepares the reader for a careful examination of the implications presented by the US honeybee colonies’ decline. The decline in honeybee colonies in the United States poses a significant threat to food production. Loss of honeybee colonies and the lack of attention to apiculture have far-reaching consequences for public and environmental health. This article explores the often-overlooked intersection of food security and beekeeping, recognizing the intricate dependencies between pollinators and crop sustainability. Honeybees, crucial pollinators for essential food crops, offer not only ecological benefits but also socio-economic opportunities. The article also highlights beekeeping’s diverse contributions, such as enhanced pollination, increased crop yields, ecosystem health, and climate change resilience. Despite the evident benefits of beekeeping for food security and the nutritional richness of bee products, commercial beekeeping in the USA is monopolised by a mere 1.4% of beekeepers. The 1.4% commercial beekeepers control 89.7% of country colonies, an indication of the huge neglect of apiculture. This neglect led to an alarming 48.2% loss of honeybee colonies between April 2022 and April 2023. This unprecedented decline, often overlooked, highlights a deficiency in attention and strategic planning within agriculture, underscoring broader implications for public and environmental health in the United States. This article introduces a theoretical framework incorporating ecological systems, social ecology, system theory, resource-based views, livelihood diversification, and sustainability, emphasizing their role in understanding and improving food security through beekeepingItem Understanding telemedicine strategies through field-based observations, interviews and benchmarking activities(Academic Research and Publishing UG, 2023) Burrell, D.N.The imperative for telehealth and telemedicine has become increasingly pronounced in addressing and alleviating health inequalities exacerbated by provider shortages and limited access to healthcare, particularly in underserved regions. The pandemic laid bare the vulnerabilities within traditional healthcare models, prompting a paradigmatic shift towards more resilient and inclusive systems. Telehealth has become a critical tool for connecting patients with healthcare providers, especially in areas plagued by shortages of physicians and specialists. In a world where geographical barriers often limit access to medical expertise, telehealth serves as a bridge, enabling patients to consult with a diverse array of doctors and specialists without the burdensome constraints of time-consuming and expensive travel. Moreover, telemedicine has proven instrumental in mitigating the shortage of healthcare personnel by empowering them to deliver remote care. This not only optimizes resource allocation but also enables healthcare professionals to reach patients in remote or rural areas where physical presence might be impractical. The significance of this development in a post-COVID-19 world is underscored by the imperative to build more resilient, adaptable, and equitable healthcare systems. The paper delves into the multifaceted impacts of this revolution, shedding light on its far-reaching consequences for patient care, healthcare systems, and the broader healthcare landscape, especially for small medical practices through field based-observations. Beyond the reactive curative model that has traditionally characterized healthcare, telehealth is propelling a shift towards a proactive, preventive approach. This shift is not only essential for managing and preventing the spread of contagious diseases but also for fostering a more comprehensive and patient-centric approach to healthcareItem Research on residents’ intention to settle and the mediating effect of green policy leadership(Academic Research and Publishing UG, 2023) Oe, H.; Yamaoka, Y.; Sartamorn, S.This research constitutes a comprehensive exploration aimed at disentangling the intricate web of relationships between citizens’ interest and their proclivity to engage with policies instituted by local governments, and the consequential impact on their intent to settle in a specific geographical area. Employing a robust quantitative analysis, the authors embarked on a mission to decipher the multifaceted interplay between citizens’ attitudes, local policies, and their desire to establish roots in a particular locale. To facilitate this exploration, the authors meticulously devised a sophisticated model, wherein “welfare and health promotion” and “social participation and exchange” emerged as the primary latent factors, while “green policy leadership” took center stage as the mediating force in the analytical framework. The research design involved a meticulous examination of the paths leading to citizens’ “settlement intention”. Drawing insights from the outcomes of an extensive intention survey, the authors meticulously collected and cleaned a rich dataset sourced from citizen surveys conducted in City A, strategically nestled in the heart of Japan’s Honshu island. This dataset, after a stringent filtering process, crystallised into a substantial sample size of 466 responses. The study’s outcomes reveal a nuanced narrative regarding the relationship between social participation and exchange policies and citizens’ intent to settle. Intriguingly, the findings suggest that these policies, when considered in isolation, may not exert a direct influence on citizens’ proclivity to settle in a municipality. However, their potency becomes evident when channeled through the lens of green policy leadership. This signifies the importance of local governments adopting a holistic approach that not only emphasises individual policies but also recognises the synergistic impact achieved through the integration of green policy leadership. Furthermore, the research extends beyond the conventional examination of policies by delving into the unexplored realms of proactive appeals and communication methods employed by local governments. Going beyond the traditional purview of green policy, the study illuminates the critical role played by effective communication strategies. It suggests that a proactive approach in communicating policies, coupled with a leadership stance that accentuates green policies, serves as a catalyst for aligning local residents’ instructions with municipal policies. This dynamic interplay fosters a positive environment that, in turn, augments citizens’ willingness to settle in the area.Item Health problems among radiographers: An empirical study in private hospitals(Academic Research and Publishing UG, 2023) Rajan, D.; Dhar, P.Diagnosis is essential in health care management, because upon the results of diagnosis doctors and surgeons decide their treatment plan. Accurate diagnosis of the diseases is crucial to initiate the right treatment whereas inaccurate diagnosis will cause negative outcome, which will put patients at risk. Radiographers play a crucial role in diagnostic profession and contribute to the medical personnel to diagnose the diseases accurately. At the same time, radiographers, among other categories of paramedical employees in the health care sector, are more vulnerable to numerous health related issues (varying from headache to cancer in light of their nature of job – continuous exposure to high radiation rays). It not only endangers their physical health, but also impinges on their mental health. Sound health of radiographers is paramount to support them delivering productive outcomes, which assists the medical personnel to diagnose the underlying diseases of patients accurately and initiate the right treatment. On the contrary, the ill-health of radiographers not only distresses their own health and stakes the routine function of the department. It can also be a main source of reason for the inaccurate diagnosis by the medical personnel, which will eventually endanger the treatment of patients and also put the reputation of organizations at risk. Thus, since the health problems of radiographers remain a serious threat to patients and reputation of organizations, it is inevitable to analyse their health issues and find out the appropriate ways to prevent them from occurring. In view of this concept, this survey based on descriptive research has been undertaken in Tirunelveli City, Tamil Nadu with the objective of examining various health problems of radiographers working in private multi-speciality hospitals. In order to know the health-related problems, the present study has examined nine variables related to both physical and mental health. The study has sampled 60 radiographers using both convenience and judgement sampling techniques. Primary data for the study have been collected using the questionnaire method. Secondary data have been collected from books, journals and websites. Percentage has been administered to understand perception of radiographers towards various health-related problems. The result of the study has discovered that tiredness and low energy, body pain, difficulties in sleeping, depression, anger, emotional disturbances and digestive disorders are the foremost health-related problems. Skin and eye problems, urinary tract infection, diabetes mellitus and hypertension, irregular menstruations, weight loss and hair loss are the next foremost health-related problems of radiographers. The perception of the respondents to the discussed variables is moderate.Item Healthcare cybersecurity and cybercrime supply chain risk management(Academic Research and Publishing UG, 2023) Wright, J.Cybersecurity is paramount in today’s rapidly evolving healthcare industry, particularly as supply chain management and logistics undergo digital transformation. This study examines the substantial threat posed by cybercrime to patient safety, data security, and operational efficiency within healthcare logistics and supply chain management. These risks can significantly impact an organization’s reputation and financial stability, necessitating vigilant detection and mitigation efforts by healthcare companies. As the primary defence against online threats, cybersecurity plays a pivotal role in preventing data breaches, cyberattacks, and other malicious activities that could have devastating consequences for the healthcare sector. Its core objective is to ensure the availability, confidentiality, and integrity of data, systems, and resources within the realm of healthcare supply chain management and logistics. Patient data protection stands out as a critical aspect of cybersecurity in this context. Healthcare logistics and supply chain management systems frequently handle sensitive patient data, encompassing billing details and medical histories. The compromise of such data places patient trust and the organization’s regulatory compliance at risk, potentially leading to identity theft, fraudulent claims, and privacy breaches. Furthermore, safeguarding the security of medical equipment is of paramount importance. With the increasing connectivity of these devices through the Internet of Things (IoT), they become more vulnerable to cyberattacks. Apart from jeopardizing patient safety, a breach in medical device security raises questions about the authenticity and reliability of healthcare products and services. Another pressing issue that healthcare institutions must address is unauthorised access to their systems. Cybercriminals persistently seek entry points into these systems to exploit vulnerabilities for illicit or profitable purposes. Robust cybersecurity measures are essential to thwarting unauthorised access and ensuring that only authorised individuals can access and modify sensitive medical data. Maintaining the accuracy of patient records is crucial for efficient supply chain management and healthcare logistics. Cyberattacks that manipulate or corrupt patient records can lead to medical errors, endangering patient safety. Consequently, cybersecurity measures must include safeguards to preserve the integrity and accuracy of these records. Beyond these immediate concerns, cybersecurity is instrumental in preventing disruptions to healthcare operations and services. Downtime resulting from cyberattacks can be catastrophic, impeding patient care and undermining the overall effectiveness of supply chain management and healthcare logistics. Cybersecurity safeguards continuous healthcare services by guaranteeing the security and accessibility of data and systems. Furthermore, cybersecurity plays a pivotal role in protecting the integrity, trust, and reputation of healthcare organizations. A cyberattack or data breach can tarnish an organization’s reputation and erode patient confidence. Such damage can have enduring repercussions, affecting an organization’s ability to attract clients, partners, and investorsItem Responsible leadership actions and achievement of societal purpose: Perspectives from the Kenyan health NGO sector(Academic Research and Publishing UG, 2023) Ng’etich, A.C.; Mang’unyi, E.EThe primary goal of this study was to provide empirical evidence to improve understanding of how responsible leadership actions drive the societal purpose of health non-governmental organisations (NGOs). What impact have such efforts had on organizational performance in terms of achieving societal goals? Although researchers continue to investigate the domain of responsible leadership, none have focused on the health NGO sector, particularly in developing countries, and with a focus on providing evidence-backed adaptation practices for the future. A cross-sectional mixed study approach was applied, with positivist and constructivist phenomenological viewpoints being incorporated. The study respondents were sustainable health system experts working in health NGOs on a national and international scale as well as the health ministry. The perspectives of 33 randomly selected respondents were gathered using a cross-sectional questionnaire survey and 10 purposively selected key informants using open-ended interview questions were empirically and thematically analysed respectively. The findings indicate that responsible leadership embedded on organisational purpose benefits the organisation and adds value to society. Responsible leaders in the studied organisations built trust, used open communication, mindful actions and collective consciousness to positively and effectively engage with their employees. The prospection and future-orientation of responsible leaderships of health NGOs could stimulate adaptive responses in postmodern society, allowing them to deepen sustainable value for society. Leadership actions are an essential component of these NGO adaptation to change. That must be taken into account by managers for smooth adjustments to the changing context, allowing these NGOs to remain relevant and authentic to their organisations’ societal purpose. Despite the fact that researchers are continuing to investigate the domain of responsible leadership, no one has focused on the health NGO sector in developing countries like Kenya. The empirical evidence in this article shows that responsible purpose-driven leadership, combined with responsible actions, has an impact on organisations’ adaptation to contextual changes.Item Teaching business leadership skills to professionals in healthcare cybersecurity, biodefense and biotechnology through experiential learning methods(Academic Research and Publishing UG, 2023) Ninassi, C.J.; Burrell, D.N.Пандемія COVID-19 не тільки змінила глобальний економічний ландшафт, але й підкреслила критичну потребу в стратегічному лідерстві та управлінських навичках в організаціях, що охоплюють різні сектори.
