The primary purpose of this study is to explore the value orientations of higher education institutions in the context of sustainable development and to identify strategies for promoting sustainability values among students, faculty, and staff. Higher education institutions are fundamental agents of societal transformation, shaping the values, skills, and perspectives of future generations. In the 21st century, the concept of sustainable development has gained prominence as a framework for addressing pressing global challenges, including climate change, poverty, and inequality. Sustainable development encompasses the simultaneous pursuit of economic prosperity, social equity, and environmental conservation to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs [3]. As such, it requires a fundamental shift in human values and behaviors towards more inclusive, equitable, and environmentally responsible practices. Having studied this issue, we can state the following: Higher education institutions are uniquely positioned to advance the principles of sustainable development through their academic, research, and operational activities. By integrating sustainability into curricula across disciplines, universities can equip students with the knowledge, skills, and values necessary to address sustainability challenges in their future careers and communities. Moreover, research conducted within universities can generate innovative solutions to sustainability problems while contributing to the global knowledge base. Additionally, universities can serve as living laboratories for sustainability by implementing green campus initiatives and promoting environmentally responsible practices. One of the primary ways in which higher education institutions can promote sustainable development is by integrating sustainability principles into their curricula. This involves incorporating topics such as climate change, biodiversity conservation, social justice, and responsible consumption into existing courses across disciplines. Interdisciplinary approaches that emphasize systems thinking and holistic problem-solving are particularly effective in addressing the complex nature of sustainability challenges. Furthermore, experiential learning opportunities, such as service-learning projects, internships, and field experiences, enable students to apply sustainability concepts in real-world contexts, fostering deeper understanding and engagement. Research conducted within higher education institutions plays a crucial role in advancing sustainable development goals. Universities can prioritize funding and support for multidisciplinary research projects that address pressing sustainability issues, such as renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, urban planning, and environmental justice. Collaboration across disciplines and with external stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and industry partners, can enhance the impact and relevance of sustainability research. Moreover, universities can promote open access to research findings and encourage knowledge sharing to accelerate progress towards sustainability objectives. In addition to academic and research endeavors, higher education institutions can demonstrate their commitment to sustainability through campus operations and management practices. This includes reducing energy and water consumption, minimizing waste generation, promoting sustainable transportation options, and enhancing the resilience of campus infrastructure to climate change impacts. By implementing sustainability policies and engaging with campus stakeholders, universities can create a culture of environmental stewardship and in spire broader societal change. Furthermore, investments in green buildings, renewable energy systems, and sustainable procurement practices can yield long-term cost savings while reducing ecological footprints.Item The Impact of Media Culture on Future Professionals’ Training(Sciedu Press, 2022) Tatarnikova, A.; Oleshko, A.; Voronovska, L.; Shvets, N.; Сушкова, Олена Миколаївна; Сушкова, Елена Николаевна; Sushkova, Olena Mykolaivna; Sbitnaia, D.The relevance of the research is substantiated by the fact that the information society can be addressed as a stage in the modern civilization formation, which is characterized by the increasing role of knowledge, information, as well as information processing technologies. The number of people employed in the information sphere is growing steadily. The information products and information services are gaining additional shares in the market. It is specifically the prerequisites for a future specialist to have high media and cultural competence to tackle current challenges. The research aims to ascertain experimentally the pedagogical conditions for media culture formation and its impact on future professionals’ training. The study was conducted using such tools as questionnaires and testing. Diagnosis of cognitive interest (according to N. Kuzmina’s scale), the scale for assessing students' operational skills (according to M. Chobitko), Pearson's criterion (chi-square). In the experimental group, only 1.9% of students at the control stage of the experiment corresponded to the low level of media culture according to the cognitive criterion, while in the control group there were 18.4% f students. However, in the experimental group at the control stage of the experiment more than 61% of respondents yielded a high level of media culture according to the cognitive criterion. That said, in the experimental group only 1.9% respondents at the control stage of the experiment corresponded to a low level of media culture according to the cognitive criterion. The obtained results give grounds to argue that media culture formation has a positive effect on the future professionals’ training. This is due to the fact that media culture is underlying the general professional competence of the XXI century specialist. The enhancement of the students training through the use of new information and Internet technologies has all chances to be one of the prospects for further research in the relative to the issue addressed.Item Virtual internationalisation – how COIL and other models can support cross-border exchange(FH Münster, 2021) Красуля, Алла Вікторівна; Красуля, Алла Викторовна; Krasulia, Alla Viktorivna; Pistor, PetraСучасна вища освіта стикається з низкою тенденцій. The work provides an insight into the evolution of modifications to the titles of this historical source for the entire period it was published. It examines the document’s substantive and formal characteristics such as structure, format, and data presentation. A quantitative analysis of data from the document helped establish a list of disciplines and courses taught at the university and measure the weekly academic load of students in Kharkov Imperial University (in hours), which made it possible to also measure this load across terms and for instructors as well. The study helped establish certain distinctive characteristics of the document – more specifically, the fact that it contained recommendations regarding scholarly and scholarlyinstructional study guides that instructors were to use in their work. Such recommendations were eventually replaced with a list of recommended literature for each course taught at the university. The present paper also provides dynamic data on the quantitative composition of the teaching workforce in each specific department. The authors established the scholarly-pedagogical potential of Kharkov Imperial University in the period between Nicholas’s University Statute of 1835 and Alexander’s University Statute of 1863. It was established that, in addition to their primary duties at the university, professors also gave public lectures, which had them adapting their courses to the needs and interests of the public. As a rule, giving public lectures was not a burden on instructors, as it was voluntary in nature.Among other matters, the authors researched the nonacademic component of university education – more specifically, the teaching of the “pleasing arts”. Based on this, a conclusion was drawn that the model of higher education in the Russian Empire in the 19th century was focused on the all-round development of a person.Item Women and Philanthropy: the U.S. Experience that Сould be Transferred into the Ukrainian Context of Higher Education(Wydawnictwo Naukowe Uniwersytet im. However, to date, there has been relatively little research on learning the relationships between Mobile-Assisted Language Learning and university students’ perceptions of this innovative teaching approach. In this paper, some of the existing research on the topic of mobile learning is reviewed to connect language learning, educational technology, and perceptions of learners towards the use of mobile technology to support language learning. The 1st-year students in the Germanic Philology Department at Sumy State University, Ukraine, were first exposed to a MALL experience, and then asked to express their thoughts on the incorporation of mobile devices into the language classroom. Research findings revealed overall positive attitudes and perceptions amongst the students surveyed. However, some technical and digital literacy challenges emerged during the intervention. Despite some constraints, the university students majoring in English indicated their readiness for mobile-assisted learning. The learning/teaching materials elaborated for the study might be useful for practitioners and researchers in the field of mobile pedagogy for EFL teaching.Item Endowment as an Educational Fundraising Tool for Entrepreneurial University: the U.S. Experience versus Ukrainian Reality and Perspectives(Wydawnictwo Naukowe Uniwersytet im.
