Abstract	The article is devoted to T.Shevchenko’s poetic creative work of the exile period. At that period the elegic motives were displayed with a great power. The author made a genre identification of the poems of that period. He defined not only the elegy specific features bat those alterations occurred in ideological context and artistic structure of genre during 1847-57 years.
