Abstract	The article develops the conception for the assessment of imbalances in the banking system by banking supervisory authorities. A special attention is paid to the necessity to consider the peculiarities of banking systems and determine the leading indicators of possible imbalances in the banking system development. It also offers methodical foundations for the development and use of the banking system’s quality evaluation.
