Abstract	We discuss different measures of the discriminative power of rating functions to examine the forecast strength of ratings. Besides the measures discussed in the literature, we also consider stochastic dominance to evaluate rating functions. We apply these criteria to compare empirically the ratings of Standard & Poor’s and Moody’s Investors Service. Щоб проаналізувати прогнозуючу силу оцінки, у статті обговорюються показники дискримінуючої здатності функції оцінки (або рейтингової функції). З цією ж метою, крім показників, які часто обговорюються в літературі, розглянуто ідею стохастичної домінантності. Всі перелічені критерії використано для здійснення емпіричного порівняння показників двох рейтингових агентств — Standard & Poor’s and Moody’s Investors Service.
