Abstract	New positions of the theory of cutting, such as are considered: the greatest operation of an edge, an efficiency of process of cutting, regularity of influence of the executed operation on magnitude of a wear of an edge. On this foundation the mathematical model and methodological premises of calculated prediction of performances of process of cutting are created, the new concept of a development of systems of automation of technological preparation of manufacture is offered.
