Abstract In the overwhelming majority of cases, cerebral stroke is a multifactor disease, in the development of which, along with other factors, an undoubted role is played by changes in the system of hemostasis. In the last decade considerable attention has been paid to the study of the influence of genetic predisposition on the hemostatic system. In general, the risk of stroke in men is 30% higher than that of women. However, this is typical only for the age group of the population from 45 to 64 years. At the age of more than 65 years, the risk of stroke in men and women is practically the same.
