Governments around the world recognize the benefits for individuals and national economies as a whole of having a financially literate population that provides access to relevant financial products with adequate consumer protection. In recent years, the G20 has endorsed three principles in this regard: financial consumer protection, financial inclusion and national financial education strategies, indicating a significant commitment to full and secure financial integration. Evaluation and analysis play an important role in the design and implementation of such a policy. And the degree of financial literacy can be used to indicate the level of the need for financial education around the world. More detailed research can be used to identify those aspects of financial literacy that most require work and populations that need targeted support. The demand side for financial inclusion measures gives similar data, indicating where to focus on policies. Therefore, this article is devoted to the review of key international strategies for the development of adult literacy and, in this context, to reveal important evidence of how it affects the overall level of protection of the rights of financial sector clients.
