This study aimed to establish the basic morphological and crystal-chemical properties of microscopic calcifications and their impact on breast cancer tissue. During the retrospective study, 55 out of 469 breast cancer samples had microcalcifications. The expression of the estrogen and progesterone receptors and Her2-neu showed no significant difference from the non-calcified samples. An in-depth study of 60 tumor samples revealed a higher osteopontin expression in the calcified breast cancer samples (p < 0.01). The mineral deposits had a hydroxyapatite composition. Within the group of calcified breast cancer samples, we detected six cases of colocalization of oxalate microcalcifications together with biominerals of the usual “hydroxyapatite” phase composition. The simultaneous presence of calcium oxalate and hydroxyapatite was accompanied by a different spatial localization of microcalcifications. Thus, the phase compositions of microcalcifications could not be used as criteria for the differential diagnostics of breast tumors.Item The Expression of Prolactin Receptors in Benign Breast Tumors Is Not Associated with Serum Prolactin Level(MDPI, 2021) Коломієць, Олена Олегівна; Коломиец, Елена Олеговна; Kolomiiets, Olena Olehivna; Язиков, Олександр Валерійович; Языков, Александр Валерьевич; Yazykov, Oleksandr Valeriiovych; Піддубний, Артем Михайлович; Поддубный, Артем Михайлович; Piddubnyi, Artem Mykhailovych; Линдін, Микола Сергійович; Лындин, Николай Сергеевич; Lyndin, Mykola Serhiiovych; Лукавенко, Іван Михайлович; Лукавенко, Иван Михайлович; Lukavenko, Ivan Mykhailovych; Андрющенко, Володимир Вікторович; Андрющенко, Владимир Викторович; Andriushchenko, Volodymyr Viktorovych; Романюк, Анатолій Миколайович; Романюк, Анатолий Николаевич; Romaniuk, Anatolii Mykolaiovych; Москаленко, Роман Андрійович; Москаленко, Роман Андреевич; Moskalenko, Roman AndriiovychThe role of prolactin (PRL) and its receptors in the initiation and development of benign breast tumors (BBT) has not been sufficiently studied. An imbalance in the system of hormone homeostasis is crucial in the development of BBT. In particular, an association between elevated prolactin levels and the development of BBT has been reported. Our study showed no significant differences between PRL receptor (PRL-R) expression in BBT tissue under normal and elevated serum PRL levels. There was also no significant correlation between age, PRL-R expression in BBT tissue, intact tissue, and PRL level in the serum. There was a strong significant correlation (p < 0.01; r = 0.92) between PRL-R expression in BBT samples and intact breast tissue, which did not depend on the serum PRL level. There was also no significant difference in the expression of the proliferative marker Ki-67 in BBT tissues from women with normal and elevated levels of serum PRL (p > 0.05). No signs of PRL and its receptors were detected in the BBT cystic fluid women with elevated serum PRL levels. In summary, our prospective study showed that the expression of PRL-R in the tissue of BBT and physiological breast tissue does not depend on the level of serum PRL.Item The role of psammoma bodies in the ovarian serous adenocarcinoma(Sumy State University, 2020) Chizhma, R.A.; Soloviov N.O.; Сікора, Владислав Володимирович; Сикора, Владислав Владимирович; Sikora, Vladyslav Volodymyrovych; Піддубний, Артем Михайлович; Поддубный, Артем Михайлович; Piddubnyi, Artem MykhailovychOne of the current problems among women’s reproductive system diseases is ovarian tumors. Each year the risk of this disease shows a tendency to increase. The pathognomonic feature of the morphological diagnostic of ovarian cancer is Psammoma bodies (PBs), which are represented by plasticized calcium structures and are placed in the form of concentration circles. Should be noted, that the process of pathological biomineralization is most common in serous papillary carcinoma, but the mechanism of PBs formation is not fully understood yet.Item Investigation of the presence of neutrophils and macrophages in the tissues of calcified aorta affected by atherosclerosis(Springer, 2020) Radomychelski, I.; Романюк, Анатолій Миколайович; Романюк, Анатолий Николаевич; Romaniuk, Anatolii Mykolaiovych; Піддубний, Артем Михайлович; Поддубный, Артем Михайлович; Piddubnyi, Artem Mykhailovych; Krush, A.; Москаленко, Роман Андрійович; Москаленко, Роман Андреевич; Moskalenko, Roman AndriiovychThe presence of aortic calcification causes severe tissue overstretching. Neutrophils and macrophages promote experimental abdominal aortic aneurysm formation. Aim: to compare the number of neutrophils andmacrophages in the tissue of the atherosclerotic aorta with calcification and without it.Item Intraluminal inclusions cause apoptosis in prostate cancer tissue(Springer, 2020) Піддубний, Артем Михайлович; Поддубный, Артем Михайлович; Piddubnyi, Artem Mykhailovych; Москаленко, Роман Андрійович; Москаленко, Роман Андреевич; Moskalenko, Roman Andriiovych; Романюк, Анатолій Миколайович; Романюк, Анатолий Николаевич; Romaniuk, Anatolii MykolaiovychIntraluminal inclusions (IIn) in prostate cancer (PCa) causes the development of inflammation, tumour progression and metastasis. However, their effect on apoptosis remains unstudied. Objective: To study the influence of intraluminal inclusions on apoptosis of prostate cancer cells.Item Effect of heavy metals on microstructural and microelemental changes in the rats urinary bladder(Springer, 2020) Сікора, Владислав Володимирович; Сикора, Владислав Владимирович; Sikora, Vladyslav Volodymyrovych; Линдін, Микола Сергійович; Лындин, Николай Сергеевич; Lyndin, Mykola Serhiiovych; Гирявенко, Наталія Іванівна; Гирявенко, Наталья Ивановна; Hyriavenko, Nataliia Ivanivna; Линдіна, Юлія Миколаївна; Лындина, Юлия Николаевна; Lyndina, Yuliia Mykolaivna; Москаленко, Роман Андрійович; Москаленко, Роман Андреевич; Moskalenko, Roman Andriiovych; Піддубний, Артем Михайлович; Поддубный, Артем Михайлович; Piddubnyi, Artem Mykhailovych; Сікора, Катерина Олексіївна; Сикора, Екатерина Алексеевна; Sikora, Kateryna Oleksiivna; Kuts, V.Global environmental pollution leads to the distribution of heavy metal salts (HMS) in the ecosystem and their impact on the organism. The aim of the work was to analyze the morphology of pathological biomineralization in GB tissue in CCCh, GBC and PGB. Five cases of PGB, 10 samples of CCCh and 5 cases of GBC with biomineralization were selected for this study. All samples were examined by histology, histochemistry and scanning electron microscopy with X-ray diffraction. The X-ray diffraction of mineral deposits of PGB wall and GB concretions revealed their different mineral composition. All PGB and GBC samples had the presence of hydroxyapatite. Calcium-containing GB concretions were composed of calcium carbonate with the presence of trace amounts of other calcium phosphate phases (vaterite, dolomite). We did not find cancer in all PGB cases. The different crystal phases of biominerals were found in the wall (PGB and GBC) and in the GB cavity (CCCh) during pathology development. The difference between mineral content of biominerals can be caused by various conditions and mechanisms of their formation.
