Abstract |
In the last few decades, the world has experienced harsh environmental
consequences, particularly CO2 emissions, due to the activities of humans, such as
burning fossil fuels, deforestation, and industrial processes (Bergougui, 2024). The
energy required for economic growth, dominated by non-renewable energies from
fossil-fuel sources, pose significant risks to the environment, thus necessitating its
recognition as a pressing global issue (Matthew et al., 2023). While the share of
renewable energy has been on the rise in the global energy mix, recent statistics from
British Petroleum (BP, 2024) report that fossil-fuel energy accounts for the largest
share of 31.22% of global energy consumption (Adewale et al., 2024). |
