Abstract This paper examines how news values are constructed and deployed in ideologically opposed media narratives by comparing the reporting on the same anticorruption protest in Niš, Serbia (March 1, 2025) by two outlets – N1 and Informer. Using the Discursive News Values Analysis (DNVA) framework (Bednarek & Caple, 2017), the study explores how linguistic resources are employed to convey contrasting realities, highlighting differences in how impact, negativity, personalization, and other values are discursively realized. The findings reveal stark divergences aligned with each outlet’s political stance, offering insights into how media discourse can shape public perception.
